2018 year end update

Hey Backers!

As the year draws to a close, we wanted to post one last update, speaking to some of the progress we’ve made in 2018. It’s been an eventful, and at times arduous year – we’ve made incredible strides on the product despite many unfortunate delays. Before we move into 2019, we want to reflect on the good and bad of this year, to learn from our mistakes and hit the ground running in 2019.

We’ve finished up a lot of the major changes on our way to tooling, and kicked off the process. In parallel to the tooling being cut, we’ll be going over several smaller details, to prep for making our DV batch in march. We’ve finalized the shape of the headphones, which you can see below.

The app is coming along well – we’re all using it internally. We will be sharing public beta versions in the early new year to test without the headphones.

Below we’ve gone into a lot of detail with our year-end review. Enjoy!

Looking back, 2018 has been an incredible year – we’re really excited to see what 2019 will bring, with our product launch and beyond.

We want to thank you all for your continued support on this journey. We’ve had our share of ups and downs, and as we near the final stretch we’ve more and more eager to share Mindset with you all. We’re incredibly grateful for your feedback, and your kind words throughout.

Hey Backers!  

This update covers the progress we made over the last two months. In addition to the hardware, we’ll be sharing some updates on the software we’ve been working on, including a few really interesting applications that we haven’t yet shared publicly.

We’ve fixed the cabling, Bluetooth, and PCB layout, ANC, and button problems we mentioned in our last update. We’ve also commissioned our first tooling, a huge milestone! We’re considering making the armbands out of plastic – please read below and voice your opinion in the comments.  

Our timeline is to finish tooling by early January, finish DV by February/march, and start ship soon after.  

Below we describe the software interface, and announce our neuro-adaptive music system: a dramatic innovation in focus music. We also have several questions we’d like feedback on, so please comment with your responses!

Hey backers,

We’ve been busy over the last few weeks getting our electronics tested for the next iteration. We’ll be posting a more detailed update about that in a couple weeks.

In this update, I want to address some of the points that have been raised in the comments recently – to put some concerns to rest, and to provide some transparency into our decision-making.

August Update

Hey Backers!

This month we’ve been pushing hard to test out EV2, so we can plan the next steps for our DV run. We have a lot of technical content below about the good and the bad with our latest prototype, as well as a deep dive into the current audio specs.

The EV2 units are here and assembled! Having tested them thoroughly, there are three minor issues (which we’ve now solved) and one major issue (which we’re currently solving). We’re aiming to have the tooling cut in October, and the DV batch by the end of the year.

July Update

Hey Backers!  

July was a very busy month for us, with EV2 in mid-build and the software UX testing ongoing. We’ve got some really great pictures of the prototype parts this update - you can check it out on our blog.

The EV2 parts have mostly been tested, and the whole assembly will be ready before the product team gets back to Montreal. If all signs are go, we’ll be cutting the tooling next, leading up to our first mass production batch (DV) in October.

In parallel, we’ll be working on audio tuning with Onkyo (using EV units), and getting international certification. We’re also building some really cool music features that we aren’t public about yet, which you can read a bit about below.
