Hey Backers!

We hope you had a relaxing and productive holiday period. Here’s to focus in 2020!

We’ve been hard at work through January testing the latest prototypes, and getting ready to scale production with our next batch. Due to some recent slowdowns (cold&flu season, and the recent CoronaVirus), this update will be shorter than usual. Read-on to learn more about our recent progress and next steps.

Since February 4th, our factory has opted to remain closed in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, alongside a significant portion of Shenzhen’s manufacturing ecosystem. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a projected date at which our factory will reopen.

In parallel, however, we are moving forward with several tests on the current batch, in order to make the most of our time, and hopefully attenuate some of the delays that this is causing. Read on for more details about the latest tests we’ve run with the hardware.

2018 year end update

Hey Backers!

This past month has been incredibly exciting – we’ve been recording data from our latest batch of headphones, and so far things are looking very optimistic. We’re really excited to share our progress with you before heading into the holidays.

You can read our update on our blog. We’ve got lots of great pictures of our latest batch, and the data coming through the devices. I hope you enjoy!

Our batch is finished, and it looks incredible! We’ve included some amazing images of the products hot off the production line, as well as our unbranded packaging.

This update we went behind the scenes into our fabric factory, where we show the process we used to assemble the ear cup and lower band foam. We also show some EEG data from a few experiments we’ve run with the latest units. We also update our timeline: we’ll be producing the next batch in January as expected, but likely shipping closer to February.

At long last, we're going to be shipping our first batch very soon!

November Update

Hey Backers! 

We’ve been hard at work with the latest prototype batch, getting our tests done so we can send units in for certification and start shipping. We’ve made some great progress this month that we’re excited to share!

The T0 units have brought to light some tweaks, that we’ve diagnosed and implemented to prepare for mass production. We’ll be assembling more units incorporating these changes over the next weeks, to send in for certification in December. We’re still on track to ship our first batch in January.

Hey Backers!

The day has arrived – the tooling parts are in! We’re excited to share a lot of pictures this update of the parts we’ve received and the units we’ve been able to assemble from them.

Our tooling has arrived! We’ve completed the T0 batch of parts, which we used for part-level validation, and some ergonomics testing. You can see the pictures below – the parts look great! A few tweaks are required before the next batch, which we describe below.

We talk a little bit below about what’s involved in this first batch. The next batch (T1) will be 40 units, created later this month, which will be full-unit verification. If all goes well, the following batch of 50 units will be used for certification (~4 weeks), followed by a batch of 100-200 which will ship in January.

Hey Backers!

Throughout August, our factory has been working on cutting the moulds. During this time, we’ve been hard at work in Montreal on the electronics, the app, and planning for our launch.

In this update we’ll focus on the electronics progress, and the current state of the app. You can read the update on our blog! 

The moulds are currently being cut for our first mass production batch – this process started earlier this month, and will take 40 business days. We’ll start receiving parts late next month, which will form the DV batch. More details about our timelines for this process are described below.

In parallel, we’ve received and tested our electronics batch, and it’s looking great. We shared some pictures of the complete full electronics stack, as well as our electronics specifications.

Finally, we’ve made progress in the app, implementing a goal-setting feature for forming a habit around deep work. I also share some insight I got about my own productivity last week, amidst lots of meetings.

We want to build as much value into our deep work sessions as possible, so that you can gain deep insight into your focus and productivity. I’d love to get your feedback on this: what information other than focus levels would you like to track in your deep work sessions?
